In 2011, it was recognised that support services for Veterans and their families on the Northern Beaches were disorganised and inefficient.
In March 2012, with DVA funding and the cooperation of multiple Ex-Service Organisations (ESO), the non-aligned Veterans Centre Sydney Northern Beaches was established at the War Veterans Village Narrabeen with assistance from RSL LifeCare. In 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed and executed with Dee Why RSL Club to enhance the centre’s services offerings and resources including a new, full-time Centre Manager and new fully-furnished, premises on Level 4 of Dee Why RSL Club for the exclusive use of Veterans and their families.
Since then the Veterans Centre has developed a strong foundation and continues to tailor services to support the needs of our current and former service communities. We have a strong network across the region, with the government, Community and Ex-Service Organisations. This allows our team of paid and volunteer advocates to leverage these resources to provide a holistic and high-quality service.
